ProCVAT alternative

Label photos in the browser and export COCO or YOLO

For a quick labelling job, skip the install. Select each object with AI or a brush, give it a class, and export a COCO or YOLO dataset in one ZIP. Everything runs in your browser.

Export

Export builds the ZIP from what you labelled.

One box. Two formats.

Pick a box. The COCO annotation and the YOLO line are both written from its pixels, with the class index from the classes file.

YOLO takes the class index, then each corner as a share of the photo's width and height. Classes are listed in classes.txt in the same order.

03How it works

Three steps. Seconds.

  1. 01Open a photoPick any photo, PSD or RAW file from your device.
  2. 02Select and labelClick objects with AI select, Quick Selection or the Pen. Each object becomes a layer you can give a class.
  3. 03Export the datasetIn the export menu, tick COCO, YOLO, masks or label map and download one ZIP.

04Why CutLift

Built to be the best one

  • Install nothingLabel in a browser tab on a computer, tablet or phone.
  • COCO JSONCategories, boxes, areas and polygon or RLE masks, with RLE for objects that have holes.
  • YOLO segmentationOne normalised polygon per line, plus a classes file for training.
  • Photos stay privateSelection and export happen on your device. Images are never uploaded.

This is a CutLift Pro feature: $7.99/month plus tax where it applies, cancel anytime. Use it free while you edit; your first premium download is free.

05The guide

Small labelling jobs

When a lighter tool is enough

CVAT is built for annotation teams: shared projects, task assignment and video. Plenty of labelling work is smaller than that. A student building a first segmentation set, a developer testing a model on a few dozen photos, or a researcher checking an idea may only need a browser image labelling tool they can open straight away.

CutLift fills that gap as a CVAT alternative in the browser for still photos. There is no server to run and no install; you label images in the browser tab you already have open.

How labelling works

Each object you select becomes a layer, and each layer can be given a class. Select with the AI by clicking an object, with Quick Selection or a brush, or trace it with the Pen for hard edges. The refine panel cleans up the boundary before you export.

Segment everything (Pro) turns every object in a photo into its own layer, and select by name (Pro) picks out every chair or person in one go, which speeds up crowded scenes.

Export formats

The export menu writes COCO JSON with categories, boxes, areas and polygon or RLE masks, and YOLO segmentation labels with a classes file. Label maps, SVG outlines and plain PNG masks are there too, and choosing several gives you one ZIP. That makes it a practical image labelling tool online with COCO JSON export and YOLO label export in the same place.

Photos are selected and exported on your device, so a private dataset is never uploaded. Save a CutLift project file to keep the layers and classes, and reopen it when you need to add another object or correct a label.

Free and Pro

PNG masks and cutouts are on the free plan. COCO, YOLO, label map and SVG exports are part of CutLift Pro, at $7.99 a month or $47.99 a year, and each account gets one premium download free to try them. For video, team review or very large datasets, a dedicated annotation platform remains the better fit.

06Questions
